Harvey started his career in a regional cross-border private equity firm, where he developed skills to grow startups and performed due diligence for investment deals. That was also when Harvey applied his accounting knowledge into executing high value-added tasks such as financial modeling for startups and internal control review for pre-IPO companies directly under the firm partners’ supervision.
He moved on to serve a public listed company, where he reported directly to the CFO on accounting and risk management matters and reported directly to the CEO on E-Commerce sales analysis. This has trained Harvey to be highly accountable and detail-oriented.
Harvey is a community builder at heart who founded the HERO Retreat and has made countless fruitful relationships happen over the years. He referred to many friends who have lost directions in their careers to get their dream jobs. He also helped a few people who achieved financial freedom yet feeling unhappy to regain their purpose in life, their ikigai. Moreover, he regularly conducts workshops at universities on topics of Entrepreneurship and Business Model Canvas.
Since venturing on his own in mid-2018, Harvey has been collaborating with a startup incubator and traveling around Malaysia to create value for deserving entrepreneurs and investors. This process requires a high level of commitment, but it’s very rewarding as Harvey gains valuable insights into business models of various industries. Through massive actions, Harvey hopes that entrepreneurs can raise funds responsibly and investors can invest responsibly.
With Harvey’s extensive background in accounting and venture capitalism, Harvey is well-placed to connect entrepreneurs to the right people, resources, and platforms.
